Ronald C. Della Porta, passed away on August 1, 2018 in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He was born in Queens, New York. He relocated to Jacksonville, FL in 1968 to continue his insurance career, founding the Della Porta Group, Inc. He served 6 years in the Air Force. Ron served on numerous civic boards, was founding member of the Boys and Girls Club of Jacksonville Beach. He was a life long Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Ron is survived by his wife Nina Della Porta of 61 years; daughter Veronica Della Porta; and granddaughters Alessandra and Adriana Della Porta.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes a private mass will be celebrated. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Eugene Wilson Barnette, age 87, of Fleming Island, FL passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Born August 3, 1930 in Nashville, TN, "Gene" was the son of the late Wilson Barnette and Annie Erleen Barnette.
Eugene retired from the Navy with 20 years of service. In the twilight of his naval career he earned a business degree from Jacksonville University and went on to have a successful career as an independent State Farm Insurance agent in Atlantic Beach, FL. He was active as a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, Navy League and Kiwanis member. As an accomplished long distance runner, Gene participated in dozens of marathons including the Boston, NY and San Francisco marathons. His adventurous spirit led him to become a certified open water diver, snow skier and private pilot. Another passion was restoring antique British and German sport cars and US military jeeps. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor coach across the U.S. and spending summers at their home in Dillard, GA. While living in St. Mary's, GA they attended the Kingsland United Methodist Church.
Eugene is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Jeanette "Sam" Arleen Barnette and son, Eugene Wilson Barnette, Jr. Survivors include his sons, Michael A. Barnette (Evelyn), Jack T. Barnette (Sheila), David L. Barnette (Kim) and Rodney S. Barnette (Beth). He was a grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 3.
Committal Service with military honors will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on August 24th, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Vaughhan of Kingsland United Methodist Church officiating.

Kenneth P. Meuse, born in Quincy Massachusetts, May 1949, passed peacefully alongside his family on August 11, 2018. In the 60's, Kenneth moved to Florida at the age of 11 with his family and resided at the beaches area. He attended local grammar schools and graduated Fletcher High School in 1968. Almost immediately upon graduation, he joined the US Army and served 3 years of active duty, which he considered an honor. He was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran. After fulfilling his Military service duties, he returned to the beaches area where he began his 31 year career at the Jacksonville Beach Electric Department.
Kenneth was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and loved to cook. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, a son and his beautiful family of which he adored, two brothers along with their wives, 2 nieces and their families.

Ira Gerald Odom Jr. 64, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2018. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 25, 1954.  
Bucky, as he was known by his friends and family, owned and operated Odom's Beaches Tree Service since its founding in 1992. Previous to that, Bucky worked for his father, Ira Sr. at Odom's Tree Service in Jacksonville. Bucky was an avid fisherman and hunter, winning numerous billfish tournaments in his lifetime.
Bucky is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandra Toscar Odom. Son, Ira III “Trey”.  Sister, Becky Nelson (Jim) Cousin, Teri Nelson (Tom). Mother, Elizabeth Odom “Betty”. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in passing by his father, Ira Gerald Odom Sr. “Jerry” in 2006.
Services were held on Tuesday, August 21st, 2018.
A cause very near to Bucky's heart was the conservation of Billfish. Donations can be made in his name at Billfish.org/memorials.

Minna Elliott Barnes, born in Elizabeth, NJ on August 1, 1913, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2018. She was a resident of Ponte Vedra Beach and a proud member of Christ Episcopal Church for 64 years. Minna graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1934, earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics, and married William Barnes. Together they embarked on their goal of establishing and raising their family.
Minna is survived by her loving sons and daughters, William Barnes, Suzanne Neville, Roxanne Godwin, Philip Barnes, Katherine Trifiletti, and Carolanne Giles; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Minna was an extraordinary woman, who lived life as an ambassador of love, kindness, and gratitude.
Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra Beach, at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 31, reception following, and interment will be in H. Warren Smith Cemetery.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Community Hospice, or one’s own special charity, and be kind to one another. Arrangements by Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home.

LLOYD C. BODDEN, JR

It is with great sadness that the family of Lloyd C. Bodden, Jr. announces his passing on August 14, 2018, at home, after a brief illness at age 68.
Lloyd was born in Jacksonville, FL on May 7, 1950 to Cleve and Amanda Bodden. He grew up here in Jacksonville, graduated from Englewood High School and later USF (Tampa) with a degree in Psychology. There he met and later married his wife Susan. His career included working for Jacksonville Ship Yards, a local Moving and Storage Co., Florida State Employment Office, and as a customer service representative for a local paper company before his retirement.
Lloyd loved surfing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, some highlights being surf trips to Costa Rica, Mexico, and California with his son. He also enjoyed many get togethers and reunion celebrations around Florida with extended family.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Cleve and Amanda Bodden. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 46 years, Susan, their son Christopher, sisters; JoAnn Cumbie (Fred) and Angela Hallenbeck (Gary), as well as extended family.
Lloyd's family would like to thank all the amazing people who advised and shared in his care including Chelsea and the Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Florida Beaches Team.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Florida or to one's favorite charity.

Vinera Ann DeLena, age 91, of Atlantic Beach, Florida passed away August 27, 2018 at her home. She was born in South Carolina on November 9, 1926 to the late Weston Floyd and Anna Sauls Floyd. Vinera moved from California to Atlantic Beach in 1962. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Atlantic Beach. She loved her church family. She also enjoyed gardening, crafts and crocheting. Vinera is predeceased by her parents; husband of 66 years, Louis DeLena; brother, Clary Floyd; sisters, Rowena Richardson, JoAnna Coker, and Sandra Jean Riddle.
Vinera is survived by her children, Roseanna DeLena, Carolyn DeLena, Katrina DeLena, Jennifer “Jenny” Gilchrist all of Jacksonville, FL, Louis (Michael Gaspard) DeLena of Winnie, TX, Mitchell (Christine) DeLena of Kileen, TX, and Victor DeLena of Atlantic Beach, FL; sister, Gail (Harry) Weber of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Courtney (Zach) Tatem, Ashley (John) Dechman, Amber (Weston) Newton, Scotty DeLena, Michael (Christina) DeLena; and 13 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Vinera's Life will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 12:00 pm at First Baptist of Atlantic Beach, 1050 Mayport Road with Pastor Greg Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at Beaches Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. Sean Michael Doherty of Jacksonville Beach, FL passed away too soon on August 25th at the age of 29. He was born November 15, 1988 in Jacksonville, FL. He grew up in Jacksonville Beach and Daphne, AL., attended Fletcher High School, and worked as a welder locally and on the road.
He is survived by his daughter Emma Lynn, brother Patrick, sister Caitlin, and mother and father Caren and Mike.

Mr. James Wayne Kidd, 50, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, passed away in his Jacksonville Beach home on Monday August 20, 2018, due to heart failure. Jamie was born to parents, CMDR. James S.L. Kidd, Jr, USN and the late Laura Lea Barker Kidd on February 2, 1968 in Jacksonville, FL. Son of a Naval Aviator, Jamie was able to live in TX, VA, MD and back to where his heart always was in FL. He grew up Episcopalian,  having the honor of helping his late mother in choosing his family's church.
Jamie had a full, adventurous, yet simple life in his short 50 years. He grew up the eldest of 4, an excellent student, attending Orange Park Elementary, recipient of perfect attendance, Lakeside Middle School, Riverside Military Academy, achieving all-state wrestler, Orange Park High School, earning honor roll, an accomplished soccer player, goalie & referee, ran track & field, performed in the choir, and graduated from University of North Florida, with a degree in Accounting.
In addition to surfing, Jamie enjoyed skateboarding, fishing, clamming in the Keys, camping, cooking, great music, soccer, boating, camping, a die-hard Bulldog & Cowboys fan. He achieved the distinguished honor of Eagle Scout. Jamie was a free spirit, with an amplified, contagious smile and had an infinite love for his late dog, Roxie. Forever loved and admired by family, he was adventuresome, loved the outdoors and was always awaiting the next great wave to surf. Neighbors remember him as quiet and respectful, while one of his best friends describes him as the greatest guy he has ever met. Jamie worked loyally for clients of his sole proprietorship, J.K.'s Lawn Service, The Union Stagehands, a chef, a carpenter/contractor and in recent years enjoyed restoring a 1950’s Packard. The happiest moments of his life were, the birth of his son, Dalton, and watching him grow up in to such an amazing young man.
Jamie is survived by his father, James S. L. Kidd Jr and stepmother Christine Majors Kidd of Cambridge, Md, his beloved son, Dalton Joshua Kidd, a sophomore at Florida State University, his step-daughter, Jenny Davis and former wife Martika Davis both of Jacksonville Beach, FL, his brother Jon Fonda Kidd, nieces, Olivia, Ava and nephew Jon Michael Kidd all of Indialantic Beach, FL, his sister, Jodie Kidd-Turner, brother in law, Geoff, nephews Grady & Trent and niece Quinn Turner, all of Easton, MD. He is preceded in death by his mother, Laura Lea Barker Kidd and his sister, Jennifer Lea Kidd. In addition, Jamie leaves behind his best friend, Fay Shore & his family, many loved aunts, uncles and cousins in MD, ME, MA, VT, CA, OH and Germany, he also leaves behind a lifetime of cherished friends.
A paddle-out memorial to honor Jamie, is planned for 1:00pm on Sunday September 9, 2018 at Jacksonville Beach; location TBA via Jamie's Facebook Page.
