Marie T. Houser, longtime Jacksonville Beach resident, passed away February 23, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Montgomery Alabama and moved to Jacksonville Beach, Florida in 1957.
She was the daughter of Patrick H. Tharp, owner Tharp Construction whose company built the Jacksonville Beach. City Hall, the original Beaches Medical Center, and a large addition to St. Augustine School for the Deaf and Blind.
Marie was a longtime member Beaches Methodist Church and is survived by her three children: Olivia (Toni) Manitiu of Jacksonville Beach, Sherry Kennedy Green Cove Springs, James Watson of Jacksonville Beach., eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday March 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL., with burial to follow in H. Warren Smith Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Donald Ray Judd, age 76, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away February 17, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Lake City, FL. He was born October 13, 1941 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Chester Judd and Clemice Chestney Judd. After high school Donald enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served his country for many years. After retiring in 1972 he moved to Jacksonville and enjoyed fishing, crafts and gardening. Donald is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Bobby & Gerald; and sister, Joyce.

John “Jac” Beeman Kirkpatrick, III, age 66, passed away on February 26, 2018. Jac was born on September 14, 1951 in Orlando, FL.
As a young man, Jac achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1974 with a degree in Business Administration. He was also the President of his Delta Tau Delta Fraternity chapter. Jac received his EMBA from Georgia State in 1986. He went on to work for Allstate Dealer Services. Jac loved riding his motorcycle, and was active members of both the Dixie Chapter Pontiac Club International and Christ Episcopal Church.
Jac is survived by his loving wife, Alice; daughters, Lauren DiRenzo (David); Caitlin Kirkpatrick; and Nannie Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, Caden and Emily DiRenzo; brother, Franklin Kirkpatrick; sister, Suan Rohrdanz; and many nieces and nephews.

Taylor Overby, 26, of Jacksonville passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at her home in Jacksonville after a 4 year battle with cancer. She was a graduate of Providence High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of North Florida.
Taylor was smart, beautiful, funny, talented and most of all kind. Her positive outlook through the most trying of circumstances was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Visitation began at 10:00 am immediately followed by the memorial service at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Bosque Bello Cemetery.

Thomas "Tom" F. Rossier, age 80, of Naperville, IL formerly of Ramsey and Wyckoff, NJ and Williamsburg, VA, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Springs of Monarch Landing. He was born August 6, 1937 in Passaic, NJ to his loving late parents, George and Margaret Rossier.

Patricia DuRocher Younger, 71, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, H.F. “Buzz” Younger; sons, Chris (Donna) Younger and David (Melony) Younger; grandchildren, Cole, Sarah Jane, and Austin Younger; and a host of other family members.

Neil Gutman passed away on February 7, 2018, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1931 and attended Wyoming Seminary. A graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, PA, Neil also received his Masters in Psychology from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA.
For many rewarding years, Neil was a Director of Career Services at Temple University in Philadelphia. He was president of the Mid-Atlantic Career Counseling Association in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was a partner of “Can Do” office services” in Center City Philadelphia from 1989 to 1991 with Holly Moore.
He is survived by his loving partner Vivian Golden, his two daughters, Cathy Gutman and Moira Killoran, and his two sisters, Deborah Cornelius and Erica Gutman.

Doris McGlynn passed away peacefully at home with family on March 1, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
She was born in Measham Staff England on February 21, 1937 to Gladys and Herbert and had one older sister named Gladys who all predeceased her.
She is also predeceased by her husband of 46 years Joseph McGlynn. They met while he was stationed with the Navy in England. She was a proud military wife for 30 years before they retired here in Atlantic Beach.
Doris loved nature, animals and did ballet in England from 3yoa to 18yoa. She was very artistic and had a very British sense of humor and laughed a lot. She also sang in the church choir at St. Paul’s By the Sea Episcopal Church for over 20 years.
She is survived by 3 children John (Debbie), Michael, and Gail (Jack Lynch); and 3 grandchildren, Brittney, Chris and Kevin.
Doris was a huge animal lover and left behind 6 dogs and 2 cats who will miss her greatly. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to an Animal Rescue in her name.

ALEXANDER “ALEX” NEARBIN
Alexander “Alex” Lee Nearbin, 26, of Jacksonville Beach died Sunday, March 4, 2018 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born January 22, 1992 in Jacksonville Beach Florida. He was the son of Debra and Richard Nearbin.
He graduated Fletcher High School in 2010, where he played for the Fletcher Senators football team. He spent several years working at the beaches bike shop in Jacksonville Beach. He was currently employed by Ring Power Corporation.
Alex is survived by his parents Deborah and Richard Nearbin of Ponte Vedra Beach Florida; his beloved girlfriend Ashley Bohannon and her baby son cash; his grandparents Marie and Len Gunnery of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; and many aunts uncles and cousins. Alex was very popular, and he also leaves behind many beloved friends. He will be deeply missed.

HELEN VIRGINIA “GINNY” STRAND
Helen Virginia “Ginny” Strand passed away on February 19th 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 89. Ginny was born to Daniel Pierre Conway and Annie Louise Sharpe/Conway in Palatka, Florida on December 1, 1928 and had six siblings.
Ginny was active in her youth and was a competitive roller skater. Ginny married John A. Strand Jr. (a naval aviator) and began raising their family moving coast to coast including Florida, California and Virginia during John’s naval career. In 1974, when John retired as a Captain, Ginny and John resettled to Jacksonville, Florida where she worked as an accountant for Crowley Maritime and then Betz PaperChem until her retirement.
Ginny was an avid bridge and Bunco player. She enjoyed reading, theater, cooking and arts and crafts. Ginny was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Ginny is survived by her brother Charlie, daughter Nancy Lee, sons John Alexander III, (Paula), Michael James, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Ginny is preceded in death by husband John, sisters Mildred and Carolyn, brothers Edward, Daniel, John and grandson Steven.

WILLIAM (BILL) GEORGE DOMINIAK, JR
William (Bill) George Dominiak, Jr., age 69, of Ponte Vedra Beach died on March 1, 2018, after a brief courageous battle with Stage IV lung cancer.
Bill was born on March 7, 1948, to the late William and Henrietta Dominiak.
He graduated from Mishawaka High School and Ball State University where he met and continued life-long friendships with many of his Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brothers. (IA 670) Upon graduation, he joined the National Guard and was honorably discharged. He was first hired by Dun and Bradstreet, and then, began a very successful sales career as a manufacturers rep in the automotive industry. Bill enjoyed the comradery of many associates in the Magnus Division of Economics Laboratories, Jack Becker Oil, A & I Sales and ADG Equipment.
Bill was a loyal Notre Dame fan, he loved the Chicago Cubs, and he was a huge soccer fan. He volunteered for many years as a coach for the Beaches Youth Soccer Association and he truly enjoyed more than 25 years on the ‘pitch’ as a soccer referee. He was able to form many special friendships with players on the adult rec soccer teams. Bill also looked forward to getting together with fraternity brothers for the annual ‘Big Chill’ in Indiana and the ‘Island Chill’ on Marco Island. Bill will truly be missed by all of his ‘pub’ friends who knew that he was a stranger to none and a friend to all. We will all remember and treasure Bill’s embellished storytelling, his love for nostalgia regarding music, history, and a lifetime of special memories with friends and family.
Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susie; sons, Dr. Coleman ‘Coley’ Dominiak (Gretchen), Beau Dominiak (Monica); grandchildren, George and Kate; brothers in law, Rick Klipich, Steve Klipich; niece, Michelle Sego; nephews, Tim Rondot and Danny Klipich; and many grand nieces and nephews in South Bend, Indiana. Bill was predeceased in death by his sister, Kathleen Sego.

GEORGE FREEMAN, JR
George Freeman, Jr., 77, of Atlantic Beach, FL, passed away March 10, 2018. A lifelong resident of the beach, he was a graduate of Fletcher High School’s Class of 1959. On February 13, 1964, he married Elsie Martin to whom he was married for 54 years. He was a US Air Force veteran and retired from the City of Jacksonville Beach’s Fire Dept. in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Freeman; children, Troy and Susan Freeman; granddaughter, Alyssa Hildebrandt; great-granddaughter, Willow Ann Hildebrandt; four sisters and one brother.

MARGARET MARY LEMASTER (nee MARCHANT)
Margaret Mary Lemaster (nee Marchant), 89, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, passed away on March 11, 2018. Margaret was born in Cambridge, MA on May 18, 1928.
She worked as a dancer, as well as working in retail and hotel management. She met her future husband at the Old Howard Theater in Boston, MA, where she danced her way in to his heart. She married Lt. Cdr. James L. Lemaster, USN Ret. on December 10, 1949 and they were married for 53 years before his death on July 25, 2003. She also worked with Sears for 30 years, the Econo Lodge and Best Westerns for 20 years.
Margaret was a member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church’s St. Martha’s Circle. She enjoyed her life as a Navy wife with all the adventurous travel that came with it. In addition, she enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, volunteering, and cooking. She was a compassionate person and anyone who met her, loved her. Her smile attracted everyone. Her passions were her faith in God, the Catholic Church, and most of all, her family.
Margaret was survived by four children; Frank D. Lemaster (Deborah Van Sack), Patricia A. Patton, Debra J. Egelston, and Kenneth J. Lemaster. In addition, she is survived by her eight grandchildren; Leeanne J. Lemaster, Frank D. Lemaster II, Kristie M. Vasconcellos (Jose II), David J. Egelston, Sean J. Braybrooks, Kenneth J. Lemaster II (Jessica) Ian B. Lemaster (Cecilia), Faren D. Lemaster (Savannah), 12 great-grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews all over the country.

LARRY BECKETT LITTLE
Larry Beckett Little, 75, passed away, February 24, 2018. He was born in Macon, GA to George Beckett and Charlotte Ellison Little, who preceded him in death. Larry attended Ferrum College in Virginia and served in the US Marine Corps.
As a young man, he won multiple boxing championships in Virginia Amateur Athletic Union and others. After winning the Golden Gloves State Championship in the Lightweight Division in Virginia, an injury ended that possible career. He was retired from CSX Railroad.
Larry is survived by his son, Rylan Beckett Little and granddaughter Rylee Dawnell Little of Jacksonville; his sister Gail Little Lamb of Fairview, NC; his loving companion, Helen Williamson of Jacksonville Beach; and many loving cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach.

DR. JAMES LYONS
Dr. James Lyons, 95, passed away peacefully March 12, 2018. Born in Georgesville, Ohio to Thurman and Ethel Lyons, Jim served during WWII with the US Navy. After the war he attended Wittenberg University and graduated from The Ohio State University Dental School. He then rejoined the Navy as an officer in 1952 and retired as a Captain after serving his country for a total of 32 years. For the next 21 years, Jim was employed as a dentist for the State of Florida. Upon retiring he continued his love of traveling the world and being an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays, The University of Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Florida Gators.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Lou Mansfield, sister Patty Lyons McDonald, children Jim (Sharon), Kathleen, Connie (Stephen), Christine (Stephen), Steven, Ginny (Ted), Teresa (Larry), Tim, their mother Terrie Lyons and his stepdaughter Melissa (Charlie). Grandchildren Scott, Brad (Samantha), Doug, Roisin (Hunter), Casey, Jimmy (Alaina), Kati, Roy, Kelli (John), Amy, Gracie, Allison, Mark, Landon, Bennett, and Emerson. Great Grandchildren Sophia, Hooper, Lilly, Macie and Austin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 19th in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 435 1st Avenue N., Jacksonville Beach, with Rev. William Kelly as celebrant. Reception to follow in the Family Life Center. Burial will be at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery.

NORMAN FRANK TAYLOR
DOB 6/6/1926 DOD 3/12/2018
Norman Frank Taylor went to Heaven on March 12, 2018 at the age of 91. He was the first born son of Belle & Fred Taylor and was raised and educated in Lowell, Massachusetts.
He graduated from Lowell High School and was the Colonel of the Boys Regiment. Norman sung in many boys and choral groups both in Lowell and Boston.
Upon high school graduation, Norman enlisted in the Army Air Corps on D-Day. World War II ended and he then entered Worchester Poly Tech, studying mechanical engineering. He was a member of the Worcester Glee Club and Sigma Pi Epsilon Fraternity. He also became a licensed professional engineer.
Norman accepted a job in Schenectady, NY as an engineer with American Locomotive Co, and traveled the country on trains, which he loved. He then spent ten years with GE in the Nuclear Power Division under Admiral Rickover.
Norman married his sweetheart, Janet Sanborn, on Sept. 12, 1954. Norman was a devoted Family man and was blessed with two daughters, Debra and Cynthia. His life revolved around his church work, both as a trustee and a faithful tenor in the church choir.
In 1972, the Taylors moved to Neptune Beach, FL, where he went into partnership with his brother Donald of Tadco Construction Co.. Norman completed his career in his own business, Neptune Builders.
The family was very active at Palms Presbyterian Church where Norman again used his gift for singing under the direction of Dr. M.J. Palmer. His extremely beautiful voice will always be remembered.
The mountains were calling and a summer home turned into a year round home in Blowing Rock/Boone NC. They spent twenty years on Crystal Mountain which they considered their glory years. They returned to Florida in 2007.
Norman was married to the love of his life Janet, for 63 years. They were blessed with a family of many generations, daughters: Debra Kendrick (Glenn) and Cynthia Shelton (David); four grandchildren: Cynthia, Heidi, Daniel and Erin; and five great-grandchildren: Marissa, Gaibrial, Genevieve, Ezri and Lettie. Norman also left a brother Donald and sister Nancy.
Memorial services to be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17th in the Chapel of Palms Presbyterian Church. Gifts may be given in his precious memory to Palms Presbyterian Church Music Program, 3410 Third St. S., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
