Betty Bush, age 93, went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband Hugh Bush and her daughter Carroll Mitchell (Andy).fShe is survived by a brother, Walter Jones; her children, Renee Seel (Danks) and Barb Sherer; grandchildren, Will Seel (Korinne), Elizabeth Keiger (Darr), Katie Lowry (Joe), Jennifer Mitchell and Lexi Sherer; great grandchildren, Payton Seel, Walker Seel and Emma Lowry; and her longtime companion and “keeper” Kim Kalaap.
Betty was born and raised in Griffin, Ga. She met the love of her life, Hugh Bush, on a blind date and they were married 65 years before he preceded her in death in 2009. Hugh was career Army and he served in 3 wars. Betty was deeply patriotic and devoted to her husband and her country. She was undaunted by moving to 13 different cities throughout his military career; some as close as Brooklyn and Denver and some as far flung as Yokohama and Munich.
Betty and Hugh retired to the Jacksonville Beach area in 1975 where she became an active member in the Ladies Golf Association at Selva Marina Country Club. Betty was an avid bridge player and so loved to sing in the choir at Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a faithful member for over 30 years.
Betty had a true servants heart. She loved to sing and at the age of 65 learned to play the guitar so she could bring music to the patients that were no longer able to get out at the nursing homes where she volunteered. Betty prepared and delivered meals at Beaches Community Kitchen for over 20 years, often times to elders older than she. The meals didn't leave the kitchen until Betty said “what a beautiful meal!”. Nothing gave Betty more joy than to help out in her community.
In 2017 Betty moved to Beach House Assisted Living where she lived her final days loving and being loved by the staff and residents.
Betty never met a stranger and taught her girls that you have something in common with everyone you meet if you'll just take a moment to figure out what it is. She was a true inspiration to her many friends and her family and will be deeply missed.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1423 8th Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.

One of his scripture signs that David held out there read “Jesus Saves, John 3:16” and “I love you”.
