HARDY, GEORGE THEODORE AND HARDY, DOROTHY RUTH

George Theodore Hardy was born March 22, 1925 in Benton Harbor, MI to Clement Gabriel and Imogene Hardy. Ted was one of seven children. He served in the US Army/Airforce as a Pilot in WWII. A long-time member of Parkwood Baptist Church; he also served as a Deacon and led a Sunday School Class for thirty-plus years. An avid golfer, he enjoyed finishing his working days as the ranger on the golf course at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. He passed February 17, 2017.
Dorothy White Hardy was born October 1, 1925 in El Dorado, AR to Harmon Holden and Thelma Falkner White. Dottie was one of two children. Also a long-time member of Parkwood Baptist Church, she made and melded many friendships. While living in New Orleans, she volunteered many hours at The March of Dimes and worked as a school librarian and substitute teacher. She retired from Florida National Bank after long career in banking. She passed February 19, 2017.
Ted and Dot were both 91 at the time of their passing; and they were blessed with 72 years of marriage.
They were predeceased by both sets of parents, their son, Steven Theodore Hardy, and three of Ted’s sisters.
They are survived by: three children: Ann (Gary) McDonald, Jill (Greg) Leach, and Scott (Linda) Hardy. Five Grandchildren: Erin (Jeff Walker) McDonald, Colleen (Andrew) Seese, Jennifer (Brandon) Harrell, Jonathan Theodore Hardy, and Trevor Gregory Leach. Four Great-grandchildren: Meagan, Andrew Jr, and Harry Seese, and Magdalene Grace Harrell. Ted’s three sisters: Paula Schroeder, Lucy Schmidt and Norma Clem, Dot’s Sister, Betty Garrett. Many nieces, nephews, and friends.
There was a dual-memorial service held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 1 PM, Parkwood Baptist Church, 7900 Lone Star Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32211
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

Margaret "Chan" Alexander died peacefully February 19, 2017 at Tucker Hospice, Kannapolis, NC, following a lengthy illness. Born in Greensboro, NC, she was the oldest daughter of John Rea Alexander and Gypsy Alexander-Hulihan. She grew up in Atlantic Beach and graduated from Fletcher High School in 1974. She attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga & FCCJ.
Chan was predeceased by her father, John; stepfather, Thomas Hulihan, Jr.; brother, Daniel Alexander; grandparents, Margaret Chandler Stone and Larry C. Yount, Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Alexander (Rebecca). She is survived by her son, Luther (Luke) Alexander Marsden (Connie), her grandson, Avery Alexander Marsden; Her caring companion and fiance’, Dan Pietro; brothers, Tom Rankin and Jay Alexander (Mark), her sister, Virginia Lee Alexander; half brothers, Tommy Hulihan, (Kelly); Michael Hulihan (Tina), and Scott Hulihan (Tracey) and numerous other relatives.
Chan's working career included the Jacksonville Beach Chamber of Commerce, Kirby-Howell Law Firm, followed by many years with The Stockton Realty Group, primarily in Property Management. She also did volunteer work for the City Mission House and others in Jacksonville. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and raising her kittens. She and Dan spent this past year living in China Grove, NC
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Performing Arts on the South Campus of Florida State College on Beach Boulevard and will include an informal luncheon. Memorials of flowers or to your favorite charity are welcome.

Jean T. Shoff passed away February 28, 2017 at her home with her son Daniel by her side. She was born May 9, 1921 in Kingwood, West Virginia.
Jean graduated from University of Pittsburgh, married Ronald E. Shoff and together they adopted twin sons. She owned her own real estate company in Pittsburgh, PA prior to moving to Jacksonville in 1983.
She is survived by her twin sons, Daniel Ronald Shoff (Mary Lou) and David Ronald Shoff (Tammy); grandsons, Joshua and Jeff; great grandson, Caige; and Dr. David Foss which was like a son to her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 at Palms Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville Beach. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Forrest Cemetery of Gadsden, AL.

Bob Long, a longtime resident of Jacksonville Beach, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2017. He was born on January 19, 1949 in Greensburg, PA, to Jack and Betty Jane Long.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Sheryl Speicher Long; his children Brinton Long (Brandi), Robert Long, Rachel Shannon (Nicholas), Hannah Swidorsky (David), and the true joy of  his life, grandchildren, Kerrigan, Mackenzie, Rowan, Elena, Ryker and Rylee.

Clifford E Edgar Sr., 69, of Atlantic Beach, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at Beaches Baptist Medical Center. Cliff, a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 10, 1947 to the late Harry & Elewese Edgar.
Cliff was an avid fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, NASCAR, Westerns, M&M dispensers, and his cars among other things.
Cliff is survived by his son, Clifford Jr (Michelle); daughters  Linda (Danny) Sam and Contina (Cecil) Thompson; grandchildren, Shaiann, Sharlyn, Darion, Ryan, Ty'Lyn and Kianna; his great friend Earl and many other friends. He was predeceased by his parents, and brother William. Jr, Michelle and Earl would like to thank the staff at Beaches Baptist CCU for the loving care they gave Cliff.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Jacksonville National Cemetery. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 316 in Atlantic Beach at noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion or foundation of your choice.

Mrs. Betty J. Schultz, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away at her home on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the age of 82.
Betty was born to parents William Kinslow and Clora Smith on September 2, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN. She married Harold A. Schultz and was married for 56 years.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Harold A. Schultz. She is survived by daughter, Kathy Schultz; son, Doug Schultz (Robin); daughter, Cindy Schultz; grandson, Bobby Dean (Angie); granddaughter, Kristin Gibson (Mike); granddaughter, Nicole Beaver (Dylan); granddaughter Kate Doolittle (Ben); grandson, Matt Schultz (Chelsea); grandson, Robert Graeme; Gayle Schultz (Eddie); 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty was blessed by her angels on earth Sabina and Janice Powers. She had a constant loving companionship with her beloved yorkie “Callie”.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Betty had a love for laughter and her smile could light up a room leaving an impression on all.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home.
The family is grateful for the condolences, in lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to N.E. Community Hospice or Alzheimer’s Research Department at the Mayo Clinic in memory of Betty J. Schultz.
