Mr. Richard Edward Dunkerly, Jr., age 89, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
“Rich” was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 20, 1929 to the late Richard Edward Dunkerly, Sr. and the late Mary Hoffman Dunkerly. Rich served his country for 23 years n The US Navy. He retired from the navy with the rank of Master Chief. After retirement he was affiliated with the Fleet Reserve and was very active in setting up reunions with old shipmates. He was also a member of the Shrine and an avid golfer. He was a member of Neptune Baptist Church in Neptune Beach Florida. He was preceded in death by his 2 sons Gary and Michael Dunkerly.
Mr. Dunkerly is survived by his wife Lois Dunkerly of Eatonton, son Rick (Trisha) Dunkerly of Eatonton, grandchildren Dustin Dunkerly of Woodstock, Ga., Kelly Ivey of Jacksonville, Fl., Lindsey Rhode of Woodstock, Ga., and Chad Dunkerly of Lawrenceville, Ga. As well as 10 great grandchildren.
