Allison Palmira Yola (Campo) Cook, age 56, passed away suddenly on December 20, 2018.
She and her husband were enroute to see their children and grandchildren for the Christmas holiday when she suffered a heart attack in Newport, TN and could not be revived. Allison and Bob lived in Franklin, NC, moving there from Jacksonville, Fl after retirement.
Allison was a retired Police Sergeant from the city of Jacksonville Beach, Fl. This was a job she dearly loved and began her career shortly after high school. Allison spent 31 years as an Officer working in all aspects of the department. She was the first female supervisor ever promoted in her department. Allison was one that if she was told she couldn’t do it, she would prove them wrong every time. Once retiring to Franklin, Allison pursued her dream of becoming a teacher of Law Enforcement. She began teaching at the Southwestern
Community College Public Safety Training Center. She absolutely loved teaching new young officers in both the Basic Law Enforcement and Park Services curriculum. Her impact and legacy will go on for a generation of new officers.
Allison had a loving and giving spirit that was evident by everyone she knew. She loved the town of Franklin and everyone she met. She was very active in the community volunteering her time as a Guardian Ad Litem, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 81 Trustee and a number of church committees and activities Most importantly, she loved her neighbors and counted them among her family. Allison loved to bake various treats and handed them out to everyone she cared about.
The real love of her life (besides Bob) was her grandchildren. She spent every moment she could with them showering them with the love and affection that only a Nana could.
Allison is survived by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Cook; her daughter Elita Cook; her step-daughters, Melissa (Jose) Flores, Oklahoma City, Brandi Cook, St. Thomas (USVI) and Kristen Cook (Oklahoma City) and her brother Anthony Campo (Jacksonville, Fl). Also surviving were her grandchildren, Kaiden, and Ashton; Tatiana, Emily and Brendon; Tahlia and Ethan; Kieona and Leilani. Allison has many cousins and aunts living in Chicago that mourn her passing.
Allison was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Campo; mother, Palma Campo and brother, Mark Campo.
A memorial service will be held on January 16, 2019 at 2 pm. It will be held at the Church of Eleven Twenty Two, 14286 Beach, Blvd, Jacksonville, Fl. A reception will follow.
