HARRIS LAMAR (BUDDY) GRIZZARD, JR.
Harris Lamar (Buddy) Grizzard, Jr., passed away October 30, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital after a long illness. Buddy was born in Savannah, GA December 26, 1946, to Harris and Tina Grizzard. He is predeceased by both parents, sister-in-law Lorene Grizzard and best friend Billy Dawson.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Harris 3rd; brothers, Tom and Jim Grizzard; sister, Ava Wainwright; and many nieces and nephews.
Buddy was a decorated Viet Nam War veteran. He was a Diesel Mechanic by trade but loved horses and at a young age was a pick-up man in the Rodeo. His great love was for hunting and fishing and he had many tales to tell about both activities. He also won many sharp shooting competitions in the Army. He spent the later years of his life living in a small cabin in the woods outside Hazelhurst, GA. He seemed to be happiest there.
A celebration of Buddy’s life will be held on November 18th at 4:00 pm in the home of the Leepers and Hasteys, 318 Roscoe Blvd., North, Palm Valley. RSVP would be appreciated (703-9166).
