Milton “Jim” DePietro, age 79, of Atlantic Beach, Florida passed away September 13, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center Beaches in Jacksonville Beach, FL. He was born August 31, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Anthony C. DiPietro and Helen Augenti DiPietro. Jim served his country in the Unites States Marine Corp. He later, in 1961, became a resident of Duval County and moved to the Beaches community in 1968. Jim loved the Lord and was a member of Sonrise Worship Center. Jim was known by everyone as a work-aholic. He was a self-employed shoe cobbler and owned “Jim’s Shoe Shop”. When not working Jim enjoyed dining out with his family and their Sunday mornings fishing together. In the last 20 years of his life, Jim decided to get back to riding a bicycle for many reasons. One of those was to unwind and relax, kind of like meditation with exercise. Many “beach loving” residents would see him before work and after work riding his bicycle., which was a very big joy in his life. Every Saturday at 2pm Jim played Cribbage with his best friend, Lonzo Brown.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Margaret M. DiPietro of Atlantic Beach, FL; three children, James G. DiPietro of Atlantic Beach, Alan Robert (Elicia) DiPietro of Jacksonville, FL, and Melissa (Eric) Tuff of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Mark Anthony DiPietro (Janet Bordenkircher) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Aaron, Nathan, Joshua, Jonathan, Stephen, Timothy, Tabitha and Alan; great-grandson, Charlie.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Sonrise Worship Center, 600 Levy Road, Atlantic Beach with Reverend Jerry Curtis officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at the church. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services at Beaches Memorial Park, 1500 Main Street, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233. 904-249-1166.
