Long time Resident and Beaches Dentist
Dr. Donald D. Reins, 96, passed away on December 27th, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness.
Born June 30th, 1922 in Ames, Iowa to Albert and Jennie Reins. Don was a lifelong Seventh Day Adventist and graduated from Oak Park Academy in 1939.
During World War II Don enlisted in the Navy and felt it was one of his greatest honors. After the Navy, he attended Jacksonville University and afterwards was accepted into Emory Dental School in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating with a DDS degree, he opened his dental practice in the Jacksonville Beaches area. He had a successful dental practice for over 40 years where he was well known and loved.
In addition to his parents, Don is predeceased by his daughter, Doreen, his brother Dale, and former wife, Thyra Ellis. He is survived by his loving wife Susanne, son Donnie (Gale), step-children, Sheldon (Diane), Sean (Virginia), Simon (Jane), and Donna whom he treated as his own. He also has several grandchildren: Mathieu, Danielle, Katie, Amanda, Sasha, Simon, Kenneth, Jackie, Khalib, and several great grandchildren.
Dr. Reins had a special relationship with his long term dental staff, Sally, Pat, Cookie, Nancy, whom he treated as daughters. Prior to his passing, all met periodically with him to share workplace memories.
Don loved his plants and flowers, woodworking, reading his Bible, sharing Jesus, his “clock shop buddies”, his children, grandchildren, his church, and mostly his love for GOD. He was a great example to all those in his life as a caring, selfless, peaceful and giving man.
Celebration of his life will be Sunday, January 6th at 11:00 at Southpoint Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3208 Herring Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32216
