DR. ROBERT W. CAPITAIN

Dr. Robert W. Capitain, 87, of Neptune Beach, FL who passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017 at Signature Healthcare in Ormond Beach, FL a private celebration of life will be held on February 5, 2018. 
He was born July 27, 1930 in Mineola, NY to Walter and Stephanie Capitain. “Dr. Bob” graduated from U. Penn ’52 and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine ’56. He was selected for a fellowship at Mass. Osteopathic Hospital in Boston, MA married June (nee Hackman) divorced ’70.  Bob and June had children Bruce (’57-’09) and Patricia (’59- ). In 1970, he married Judith Ann (nee Hatch).  Notably in 1975 he was hand selected by Dr. Henry Kissinger, Dept. of State to accompany him on a diplomatic mission to South America. In ’77 “Dr. Bob” moved to Neptune Beach in ’77 with his wife, children Robin (’72- ) and Jason (’75- ), where he continued to actively practice osteopathic medicine. He retired from 50 years of medicine in 2006. Bob and Judy relocated to Ormond Beach, FL in 2015. 
Throughout his life he was known as a consummate intellectual, ardent teacher, compassionate healer, and one of the most dedicated friends a person could have. Bob enjoyed shooting, woodworking, the occasional fishing and hunting trip and swapping stories. He is also survived by his grand children, great grand children and other family. The family requests contributions to healing relationships and NRA.
