Jack was born on June 26, 1927 in Augusta, Georgia and died December 20, 2017. He was a longtime resident of Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach. He dearly loved and was very proud of all his family. He often spoke about his love in serving his country. Jack enlisted in the US Navy at the tender age of 15 and served during World War II, truly a gentleman and a genuine patriot, one of the very best of our “Greatest Generation”.
When he left the Navy and began his career, he built many successful business and civic relationships during his 50 year career with Delta Air Lines, mostly spent in the Jacksonville area. Jack enjoyed working, managing and was a strong mentor to many in his ‘Delta family’.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, James H. Mobley Sr. and Viola Lynn Mobley Parker and his three brothers, James H. Mobley Jr, Thomas J. Mobley and Vernon L. Mobley.
Jack was also pre-deceased by his late wife Ella and their son, Jack R. Mobley Jr. and his grandson, Matthew Joseph Hanus.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Mobley, his children, daughter Lynn Mobley (Martha), daughter Ann Hanus (Rich), son, Jeff Mobley (Kathy) and Jack Jr.’s wife, Susan Lucas.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jasan Mobley (Ceri), Ashley Mobley (John), Erin Mobley, Patrick Mobley, Abigail Hanus and four great-grandchildren, Charlotte Mobley, Abbott Warring, Jordan Mobley and Jack Richard Mobley III. He will be greatly missed by each of us and all the extended Mobley Family, his extensive Delta family and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Hospice of NE Florida in Jacksonville Florida or to any local Veterans Organization.
A Celebration of Life to share memories, stories, to honor our “Papa” will be held at Cimarrone Golf Club in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 4 to 6pm.
