Lorene Mae Grizzard, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Baptist Beaches Hospital in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She was born on January 2, 1931 in Alexandria Virginia, the only child of Aubrey and Rosalie Schubel. Lorene and her family moved to Jacksonville Beach many years ago. For eighteen years she worked at The Chateau Restaurant in Atlantic Beach in the Lounge while Gene Nordan was playing the piano. Later, she worked for Jacobson’s department Store in the credit department until retirement. Lorene was a life-long Episcopalian. She attended St. Paul’s by-the-Sea church in Jacksonville Beach where she was a member of the Pew Ministry and St. Monica’s Guild.
Lorene loved going to the Keys, especially Islamorada, Cedar Key in West Florida, and the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. She was especially fond of West Jefferson but her greatest love was for the ocean.
Lorene was predeceased by her parent’s, Aubrey and Rosalie Schubel, Children; William Peverill and Robin Swain. Grandchildren; Billy White and Bradley House. She is survived by her loving husband, James (Jim) Grizzard , Children; Sharon Elsmore, Michael Peverill, Rick Peverill, and Sydney Hilton, Grandchildren; Laurie Foret, Alex Peverill, Janae Peverill, Daniel White, Jimmy Carroll, Tiffany Green, John Gray, and Danielle Clark. She will be dearly missed by a host of Great-Grandchildren, her dog, Fancy, and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial service and internment will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 464 11th Avenue North, Jacksonville, FL. A reception will follow in the Christopher Lobby.
