Dr. Theodore (Ted) L. Puffinburger, 83, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida passed away peacefully in hospice on May 30, 2017, after suffering a stroke. He was born in Big Pool, MD, the third of eight children, to Delbert and Evelyn Puffinberger on July 2, 1933. Ted received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 1963. He moved his family to Atlantic Beach after graduation to join the practice of Dr. Conrad Williams at Beaches Animal Hospital. He compassionately cared for the pets of Beaches area families for 32 years until his retirement in 1995.
An avid outdoorsman, he took great joy in sharing his passion and knowledge of nature and fishing with friends and family. He was most happy casting a line in one of his favorite fishing spots on the Intracoastal Waterway while observing the beauty of nature in the birds, animals and plants surrounding him.
Ted is preceded in death by first wife Jacqueline Dannell Puffinburger, second wife Margaret Key Puffinburger, sister Anna Clingerman and brother Richard Puffinburger. He is survived by daughter Therese (Terry) Puffinburger of Atlanta, GA, son David Puffinburger of Jacksonville, FL, step-son Eric Helms of Jacksonville, FL, brothers Donald Poffenberger of Lynn Haven, FL and Charles Puffinberger of Lengby, MN, sisters Beverly Shipway of Flintstone, MD, Robin Dolly of Marietta, GA, Grace Puffinberger of Hagerstown, MD, and devoted friend and companion June Williams of Atlantic Beach, FL.
