Clarence Milton Nordman, 93, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at his home in Cypress Village. He was born on July 3, 1923 to John and Fannie Nordman (Peterman) in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Clarence was married to Betty Jane Nordman on December 11, 1943. Clarence served as a Lieutenant and Pilot for the US Army-Air Force, he received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He also received his Indiana State License as a Registered Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. Residing for 40 years and raising a family in New Castle, Indiana, he loved working as an Engineer for Perfect Circle (DANA Corp) in Richmond, IN and later for Modernfold Doors in New Castle, IN. He and Betty raised four children, Nancy, Mike, Allan and Chris in New Castle prior to retirement and moving to Cypress Village in Jacksonville in 1991, where they were one of Cypress Village's first residents.
Clarence was active in the Cypress Village Woodshop, Cypress Village Community Projects and he was a valuable on-site superintendent for Cypress Village providing technical oversight in the construction of various construction phases of the Apartment and Assisted Living facilities. He and Betty were active members of First Christian Church of the Beaches. After retirement Clarence and Betty enjoyed traveling all over the USA in their Travel Trailer. He was an avid tinkerer who enjoyed woodworking, helping others with their projects, and he loved being in the outdoors with camping, fishing, hunting and all of God's Nature. Clarence enjoyed seeing and spending time with his grandchildren (5) and great grandchildren (14).
He is survived by sons, John Michael (Connie) and Christopher Lee. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, daughter Nancy Jo Jaffa, and son Allan Ray. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Ryan Nordman, Margaux Jaffa, Malea Russell, Lindsey Nordman and Dustin Nordman.
Celebration of Life Services will be held for both Clarence and Betty on May 6, 2017 at 11:00 am, First Christian Church of the Beaches, (904-246-2010) for more information. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of the Beaches, 2125 Ocean Front, Neptune Beach, FL 32266.
