ALEXANDER, MARGARET CHANDLER

Margaret "Chan" Alexander died peacefully February 19, 2017 at Tucker Hospice, Kannapolis, NC, following a lengthy illness. Born in Greensboro, NC, she was the oldest daughter of John Rea Alexander and Gypsy Alexander-Hulihan. She grew up in Atlantic Beach and graduated from Fletcher High School in 1974. She attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga & FCCJ.
Chan was predeceased by her father, John; stepfather, Thomas Hulihan, Jr.; brother, Daniel Alexander; grandparents, Margaret Chandler Stone and Larry C. Yount, Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Alexander (Rebecca). She is survived by her son, Luther (Luke) Alexander Marsden (Connie), her grandson, Avery Alexander Marsden; Her caring companion and fiance’, Dan Pietro; brothers, Tom Rankin and Jay Alexander (Mark), her sister, Virginia Lee Alexander; half brothers, Tommy Hulihan, (Kelly); Michael Hulihan (Tina), and Scott Hulihan (Tracey) and numerous other relatives.
Chan's working career included the Jacksonville Beach Chamber of Commerce, Kirby-Howell Law Firm, followed by many years with The Stockton Realty Group, primarily in Property Management. She also did volunteer work for the City Mission House and others in Jacksonville. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and raising her kittens. She and Dan spent this past year living in China Grove, NC
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Performing Arts on the South Campus of Florida State College on Beach Boulevard and will include an informal luncheon. Memorials of flowers or to your favorite charity are welcome.
