MUSCHAMP, MAXINE EUGENIA

Maxine Eugenia Muschamp, 77, of Jacksonville passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, she was a daughter of the late James Garland and Celestia Smith Paulk. Maxine spent most of her life here in Jacksonville and was most proud of raising her five children while obtaining her college degree and graduating Suma Cum Lade from the University of North Florida. With a degree in English, she had a true love of both English and Scottish literature, classic music from the early 20th century, and the theater. Maxine enjoyed the work of Elvis, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Butler Yeats, and Robert Burns. She enjoyed staying active in her book club and church circles. She was a strong Christian and very faithful to her Lord. Maxine began her career in the newspaper industry at The Beaches Leader as a typesetter. She later joined the staff at the University of North Florida where she started in the Institute of Police Technology and Management, continued in the College of Health where she wrote instrumental funding grants, and then joined the Language and Literature Department until her retirement in 2006. In her spare time she enjoyed travel, painting, cooking, and attending the symphony.  She will be remembered for her kind-hearted spirit and compassion for others.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Craig Kelly, Jeannie and Rob Schoonover, Celeste and William Watkins, and Brenda and Bill Hart; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth J. and Lori Loos; her brother, Garland S. Paulk; her sister, Betty J. Garris; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Chapel of Beach Church, 325 7th Ave. N. Jacksonville Beach, FL with burial to following in H. Warren Smith Cemetery. The family recieved friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Beaches Chapel 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. The family invites friends to send flowers or make donations in memorial to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Beaches.
