Irvin G. Muston, Jr., 69, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. His wife Ann and sons Patrick and Matthew were by his side.
Irving is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Anna Muston; Sons, Patrick Muston (Jennifer) and Matthew Muston; Sisters Janice Byrd (Bobby), Joan Muston Houston (Louis), and Judith Muston Tovar; Grandchildren, Carlie, Madeline, Draven, Luke, and Elijah; Aunts, Evelyn Muston, Marilyn Orsak, Peggy Hosek (Jerry), and Johnnie Sue Roberts; Numerous nieces and nephews; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law, Joe and Cathy Garner. He is also survived by special friends Ed and Jackie Bacon and Wayne and Linda Burnsed. Irvin was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Marion and Rosa Muston and Jerome and Myrtle Dreher; Parents Irvin and Estelle Muston; and Sister, Sandra Muston Kneppers.
Irvin was born August 25, 1947 in Cameron, Texas to parents, Irvin Muston and Estelle Muston. As the oldest child with four younger sisters, Irving appreciated the importance of family and never forgot the values instilled by his parents. He grew up in Rockdale, Texas and was a proud graduate of Rockdale High School and Southern Illinois University.
Irvin joined the United States Marine Corps in Viet Nam in December 1965, and retired in December 1985. First Sargent Muston has carried out his last Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders and has reported for duty guarding the streets of Heaven.
Irvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and the camaraderie of the Aviation Logistics Marines, as well as entertaining all of his grandchildren. The lake place at Lake Royale in Bunn, NC was his favorite place to recreate with his family. He was always up for a good road trip with his wife, Ann.
He will be remembered as a good son, caring brother, loving husband, supportive Father, attentive Grandfather and loyal friend. At the time of his death he was employed at NAS FRC, Jacksonville, FL.
A Celebration of Irving's life will be held at 11:00 am on December 28, 2016 at the Isle of Faith United Methodist Church, 1821 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville Florida 32224 with the Pastor Will Clark officiating along with Rev. Patrick Muston.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Irving’s name to his favorite charity, ACT 2:4 in care of The Isle of Faith United Methodist Church, 1821 San Pablo Rd. S, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
