Brett Allen Stratmann, 61, a long time resident and business owner in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, died Friday, March 8, 2019 after a brief but intense battle with cancer.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1957, at the age of three, Brett moved to Jacksonville Beach in the spring of 1960 with his parents and two siblings. He attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and Duncan U Fletcher High School. After serving in the United States Army, Brett returned home to work in the family business after his father fell ill with cancer and could no longer work and continued to operate A1A Lock & Key as a second generation locksmith until his death. Brett was highly respected in his profession throughout North Florida and mentored his oldest son, Zachary who has worked under his guidance and who will carry on the family business as the third generation of locksmiths.
Brett enjoyed coaching his two sons in Little League baseball as well as boating, hunting and fishing.
Brett was preceded in death by his parents, Donald J. Stratmann, Sr. and Shirley C. (Robbins) Stratmann. He is survived by his loving partner Stephanie Carter Bair, sons Zachary (Jessica) and Travis (Jennifer), grandson Austin and granddaughter, Autumn as well as his brother Donny (Dee Dee) Stratmann and sister Robyn (Ernie) Stuckey as well as a nephew, several nieces, and cousins.
Following cremation and in accordance with his wishes, a memorial mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach as well as a celebration of his life at future dates and times and his remains will be deposited later in a location he chose with close family and friends in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the McGraw Community Hospice 4715 Worral Way Jacksonville, FL 32224.
