Gloria Wells Broadfoot, 92, died peacefully and as gracefully as she lived on January 27, 2019. She was born in Sebring, Florida on September 15, 1926 to Joseph Arthur Wells and Freda Lyons Wells. She grew up in Belle Glade and West Palm Beach, Florida and lived in Jacksonville since 1953.
An English and Drama major, she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. In her younger years, she taught elementary school. In midlife, she managed the office of her husband’s architectural practice.
Gloria was an extraordinary mother and homemaker, Cub Scout den mother, and active in Arlington Presbyterian Church, Beaches Chapel and Gideon’s Auxiliary. She loved to garden, bake and sew, and inspired in her children and grandchildren her love for these, as well as her intense passion for reading and the written word. She worked with her husband on numerous charities. She continued with her kind outreach to others at Cypress Village and at Fleet Landing. Her smile was infectious, and the Love of God flowed through Gloria and ministered to everyone whose life she touched.
She was a devoted and loving wife, inseparable from her adoring husband, Albert Robert (Bob) Broadfoot, Jr. who predeceased her in 1992.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her five children, Robin (Tina), Linda, Ben (Meme), DeDe (Rafael) and Albert (Kelli), twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held.
